South Daytona

South Daytona sits between Daytona Beach and Port Orange on the mainland side of the Halifax River. The city is separate from Daytona Beach Shores across the water, an important distinction when comparing similarly named coastal-area communities.

The Halifax River shapes the eastern side of the surrounding area, with the barrier island across the water. This gives South Daytona a mainland river-region identity, separate from both the Daytona oceanfront and the peninsula farther southeast.
