Ormond Beach lies north of Daytona Beach and Holly Hill, with locations on both sides of the Halifax River. That geography means the city name can describe different everyday settings, from mainland areas to the Atlantic-facing side.

Tomoka State Park and the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens add outdoor and cultural destinations to the area. The combination complements the beach and riverfront geography, giving the city a wider identity than its Atlantic shoreline alone.
