Sanford is a city in northern Seminole County along the Lake Monroe side of the region. The city's RiverWalk gives the waterfront a recognizable public setting, with a continuous route for experiencing the lakeside landscape.
Lake Mary lies to the southwest and Midway to the east, placing Sanford at the northern end of the county's principal metropolitan communities. Its historic center and waterfront help distinguish it from the broader Orlando region, while individual neighborhoods occupy different positions around the city.
