Longwood lies in western-central Seminole County, north of Casselberry and south of Lake Mary. Its historic district gives the city a visible connection to earlier Central Florida settlement amid the surrounding metropolitan area.

The city highlights buildings including the Bradlee-McIntyre House and the Inside-Outside House as part of that district. Wekiwa Springs lies to the west and Winter Springs to the east, providing distinct neighboring settings while Longwood retains its own historic center and municipal identity.
