Altamonte Springs is a city in southwestern Seminole County, north of Maitland and west of Casselberry. It occupies a distinct place in the northern Orlando metropolitan area, with Forest City to the west and Longwood farther north.

Cranes Roost Park provides a recognizable civic gathering place around its namesake lake. The city describes a continuous lakeside walkway, a plaza and an amphitheater, making the park a useful point of orientation beyond the broader Altamonte Springs name and its surrounding residential areas.
