Lake Alfred is a city in north-central Polk County, north of Winter Haven and west of Haines City. The official visitor bureau describes a small-town setting with surrounding agricultural land, giving the city an identity beyond its position between larger nearby destinations.

Mackay Gardens and Lakeside Preserve is a local landmark, with a lakefront walking trail and natural scenery. Auburndale lies to the southwest and Davenport farther northeast, placing Lake Alfred within a connected network of inland cities while retaining a separate municipal center.
